Downtown Tampere

Hämeenkatu became Tampere's main street after the 1865 fire, designed as a wide firebreak through the city center. In recent years, the street has transformed again - nearly car-free, its perspective seemingly frozen in time.
I photographed this series with vintage medium and large format cameras (Rolleiflex, Hasselblad, Graflex) on black and white film. These images capture Hämeenkatu's stillness - echoes of old Tampere, fresh snow, the atmosphere of a town caught between past and present.
