A Question, an Answer is a photographic work developed in response to the music of Tobias Hume, interpreted by violinist Stefano Zanobini on the viola d’amore.
Immersing in Hume’s compositions, the work approaches photography as a form of reflection rather than illustration. Images are shaped by listening: rhythm, tension, and silence guide the sequencing, allowing music and photography to remain distinct yet resonant.
The work unfolds in chapters that move between force and quiet, intimacy and distance. These shifts echo Hume’s own duality—soldier and composer—while situating personal experience within longer temporal and existential continuities.
Photography here becomes a means of bridging time, not by recreating the past, but by allowing contemporary images to respond to a historical voice that remains present.
